Iaido is the art of drawing, cutting, and re-sheathing the sword. It is the traditional martial art of Japanese swordsmanship that originated in feudal Japan. It is a meditative practice that trains the body and mind to focus on precision and accuracy.
The style of iaido practiced at Boston Aikikai is Muso Shinden Ryu, as taught by Mitsunari Kanai Shihan and continued by Claude Berthiaume Shihan. The iaido program is affiliated with the Kiyoikaze Iaido Federation.
Although our practice is centered on Muso Shinden Ryu, several additional series are also studied.
If interested in iaido, please contact the instructors, Vu X. Ha or Catherine Lefebvre.
