As you are more than aware given continuing public health concerns, classes will operate a bit differently than they have in the past.
The dojo is equipped with Hepa air purifiers as well as an exhaust fan and lots of windows to improve on the air quality and many fans to foster air circulation. Our dojo protocol is as good as everyone abides to and respect it. We thank you for all your efforts and we trust your cooperation and vigilance. Please read the following carefully and thoroughly.
General rules of the dojo (indoor practice): Face coverings are mandatory and social distancing guidelines are to be respected Wash/sanitize hands before/after class and often during class. Everyone has different comfort levels and safety concerns, please respect it. A) Before class: Pre-register for the class by logging on dojo Martial arts on rails app. You can reserve a class(s) for up to 5 days in advance. Please only book a class if you’re confident you will make class likewise, cancel if unable to make it. Maximum of 10 students per class. To limit our mutual points of contact please bring your own weapons. B) Arriving at the dojo: Remove shoes and sanitize your hands. There is an additional shoe rack in the hallways. No shoes are worn inside dojo space. Inside dojo space, wear clean zoris, and especially in the cold season bring clean socks as the floor gets very cold. Outside dojo space, please wear shoes or zoris, especially in the restroom. Bathroom: We do have two toilets but try to maintain one person in the restroom at a time. Maintain social distance at all times. Check-in with the teaching staff, who will: Ask if you have any COVID symptoms or have been exposed to anyone with the virus. Ensure that you have booked the correct session. Confirm that we have your contact details on record. Check your temperature with the forehead thermometer (or armpit or rectal thermometer. – this is false, just kidding and seeing if you’re still reading). Changing rooms: If possible wear your gi to the dojo, otherwise the changing rooms are limited to two persons at a time. To help maintain high sanitary level, please spray and wipe down any area you touch in the changing room. Clean gi required. Wearing hakama is optional. Bring a sweat towel. Place personal items away from others’ belongings either inside changing rooms or bags under benches by windows. C) Getting on the mat: Sanitize feet with alcohol spray before stepping onto the mat area. Standing bow onto mat area. Choose one of the marked practice rectangular areas on the mat – first come first serve basis (space upfront by kamiza reserved for the instructor). Refrain from walking into others’ space. Have your water bottle, sweat towel and weapons neatly placed at the lower-left corner (facing the kamiza) of your space. In seiza position, bow to the kamiza and ready yourself for the class to begin. D) During class: No physical contact during class, with social distancing. For weapons class, partner practice with weapon contact only while maintaining proper social distancing. Please refrain from touching others’ weapons. Disinfect weapons before and after. Also please disinfect weapons as needed. Sanitize hands as needed. E) After class: Everyone is expected to stay and help clean. Cleaning will entail: Sweep the mat with the two white push brooms and vacuum the the mop heads. Spray disinfectant and wipe the mat with the disinfectant mops (red handle). Once a week, will mop the mat (blue handle) Spray disinfectant and wipe the bamboo border walk with the disinfectant mops (red handle) Dust the kamiza and the picture frames in the dojo Vacuum around the windows (bugs, dust) with the handheld vacuum cleaner Spray disinfectant and wipe the changing rooms and the lobby with the swiffer (after last used) Sanitizing all cleaning implements (brooms, mops, etc.) Wipe down shoe racks, front desks and benches with disinfectant (after last used) Wipe down light switches with disinfectant (after last used) In the bathrooms, wipe down surfaces with disinfectant (light switches, sink, door handles, toilet seats and toilet knob). Once a week, will do a thorough cleaning of toilets and floor (using the bathroom mop). |
